The Queens squandered good scoring opportunities in their opening game against Algeria at the Accra Stadium despite winning the match 1-0 last Saturday.
Coach Bashir admitted after the match that there were challenges with his side’s finishing but said the problems would be resolved ahead of the Mali encounter.
“We did not struggle in the game because the chances came but we squandered all of them. We are going to work on the striking department in order to take our chances in our next game.
“We fought a very hard group and the opposition was not easy but we managed to win despite squandering a number of chances,” said the coach.
Defender Gladys Amfobea scored a brilliant goal in the 12th minute to give Ghana a winning start.
The goal fired up the Ghanaians who mounted sustained pressure on the Algerians but were unable to capitalise on their numerous scoring opportunities.
Strikers Samira Suleman and Portia Boakye as well as midfielder Elizabeth Addo were the worst culprits on the day as they threw away glorious chances even though Algeria’s goalkeeper Kahina Takenint played a big role in preventing a bigger loss. Read Full Story
