For now, the handlers of the team are in a dilemma over when the team will go to camp ahead of the national assignment, as sources close to the team have confirmed to the Daily Graphic that there is anxiety among Satellites players and officials following the Normalisation Committee’s silence over the issue.
“Ghana are in the competition with countries such as Senegal, Nigeria and Niger, and even though these teams have their leagues in session, they have all moved to camp but the Black Satellites don’t know when they will even start camping”, a source lamented.
According to the source the Satellites consist mainly of local players, and because the league was suspended over three months ago, the players were inactive and needed to camp much longer.
“But as it stands now the team does not know when they will be asked to begin preparation for the competition”, the source noted.
The Satellites are scheduled to open the eight-nation WAFU tournament slated for December 6 to 16 against Niger ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations tournament slated for Tanzania next year.
The Black Satellites have been placed in Group B together with Niger, Nigeria and Benin, while host nation, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Senegal are in Group A. Read Full Story
