He lamented over the financial challenges the various clubs have been going through for the last four months in the absence of the league and appealed to the government to step in and offer some assistance.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic at Tema last Friday, Mr Tetteh, aka TT?Brothers, said once the government was spearheading the ongoing reforms in Ghana Football after placing an injunction on football activities on June 12, it should help alleviate the financial burden on the clubs.
“We the clubs have been going through a lot of challenges in the absence of the league since June so the government must consider a compensation package for us,” he stressed.
He noted that it had not been easy for club owners to cater for their players especially, since the suspension of the league and emphasized on the need for the Normalisation Committee (NC) and the government to provide them with some relief.
Touching on the ongoing reforms being embarked upon by the Dr Kofi Amoah-led NC, Mr Tetteh said it was now obvious that all the stakeholders of Ghana Football wanted to experience something different.
“The way forward is very simple; fairness must prevail for all clubs. What befell us should not happen again.
“The rules must apply to all clubs equally to make a new era clean,” he stated.
He said the current situation offered a great opportunity to all stakeholders to improve the system to help promote the game.
“We need fair officiating, sponsorship and good pitches from the government to help make our league very attractive like those of South Africa and the North African countries”.
He also emphasized on the need for the GFA Congress to align the Ghana league with that of Europe to help clubs to project into the future.
On the next GFA presidential election, Mr Tetteh said: “we should take our time and get somebody who is not selfish but will be there for all and will always remember why he became the FA president”. Read Full Story
