They claim he is ensuring the recruitment of non-natives to work at Amandi Energy, the company managing the power enclave and failure to sack him will ruin the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) chances in the 2020 elections.
They are also demanding 40 per cent employment stake at the thermal power enclave for the youth of the area.
Mr Amoah had however rejected allegations he’s interfering in recruitment processes at the Aboadze thermal power plant enclave.
“How can the assembly be an employment agency for any company? I haven’t done that, we have a lot on our hands to do, why should we be employing for others?
“Rather there is an arrangement involving the Western Regional Minister and other opinion leaders on the best approach needed to get the youth in the area employed,” Mr Amoah noted.
However, Isaac Afful, convener of the youth, insisted that there should be specific quota of at least 40 per cent to the Aboadze community, and the rest for the others because they would bear the consequences in any unforeseen circumstances by the activities of the company.
Aboadze and Abuesi are the host communities of the strategic Aboadze Thermal Power Enclave in the Western Region with a current generating capacity of over 1,042 megawatts.
The youth of the communities are unhappy and resorted to a press conference following last month’s agitations over Mr Amoah’s alleged cancellation of the communities’ earlier employment arrangement with Amandi Energy.
“It has come to our notice that permanent workers are employed outside the community in question, few being employed are casual workers, we recommend our people to be employed on permanent basis based on their qualifications.
“We stand to disagree with the DCE on the idea of making the district assembly the centre for employment for the project at Aboadze, what has he done for the Aboadze and Abuesi communities since his appointment,” Mr Afful quizzed.
Isaac Baidoo, assembly member for Aboadze, Isaac Peaceful Baidoo, was also unhappy over the development and expressed dissatisfaction with the stance of Mr Amoah.
