President Akufo-Addo on July 7, 2018, disclosed he will reinstate suspended Deputy Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide.
Speaking to delegates at the National Delegates Conference of the NPP in Koforidua on Saturday, ahead of the voting, President Akufo-Addo said the investigation on the visa scandal had been completed and per the report, the Deputy Minister was innocent. “I will reinstate him on Monday, the President told the crowd.
Pursuant to his comment in Koforidua over the weekend, President Akufo-Addo on Monday reinstated the Deputy Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide and the Chairperson of the National Sports Authority Kwadwo Baah Agyeman.
On a group whatsapp chat, the alleged Honourable MP for Asante Akyem North, suggested that it was on the basis of political expediency that President Akufo-Addo reinstated Deputy Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide who is a native of Ketu North constituency in the Volta Region. The MP's assertion is quite an obvious suggestion that the there's more to the matter than what the investigation report revealed.
In the group whatsapp chat, Hon. Appiah Kubi queried the varcity of the investigation findings without establishing the allegations of impropriety. The decision was also taken ahead of the President's 3-day tour to the Volta region.
Another inference drawn from the intercepted WhatsApp chat by Hon. Andy Appiah Kubi, suggest that President Akufo-Addo announced the reinstatement of the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister at the NPP conference grounds in order to secure the Volta Region votes for his prefered candidate in the just ended elections of the NPP's National Executives.
Though some members on the group platform expressed their disagreement on the assertions but the Honourable Appiah Kubi; the MP appeared resolute in his submission and kept to his stance on President Akufo-Addo's decision.
