The Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei and her two deputies, Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwah were sacked from office by President Akufo Addo on Thursday largely for breaching procurement laws.
There have been several calls from a section of the public on government to prosecute the former senior officials of the country’s Electoral Management Body.
However speaking to Joy FM, Hon. Joseph Kpemka Dindiok government can only prosecute them if the AG’s office is able to establish concrete evidence of wrongdoing against the trio.
“The decision to prosecute any matter is taken after a review of all the documentation. Now, when a reference is made then the one who makes the reference must have established a prima facie case or wrongdoing and we review it and come to the conclusion that there’s evidence of wrongdoing then per Article 88 of the Constitution and as the persons who represent the interest of government in criminal and civil proceedings we will proceed to court.”
