Nii Lante Vanderpuye says the signatory to the statement, Isaac Addo, has been banned by the world governing body on football, FIFA and can therefore not be General Secretary to the GFA.
This boy (Isaac Addo) has brought so much embarrassment to this country [Ghana], he was involved in some sexual assault in Equatorial Guinea and FIFA took a very serious view of that and banned him.
“The only thing I will tell Ghanaians is to dismiss this statement with the contempt it deserves,” he told Mamavi Owusu Aboagye on News Desk on Joy News on Multi TV.
“We don’t need this statement because it means nothing to us…,” he added.
The statement seeks to purport that, officials of the GFA haven’t seen the video and they needed to be furnished with it or be given tickets to see it.
“The GFA was not provided with an opportunity to watch the premiering of the documentary as it was neither provided with an advanced copy of the said documentary nor furnished with tickets by Tiger Eye PI to watch the airing…,” the statement said in part.
“To this end, we believe it’s only fair and proper that Tiger Eye furnishes us with the said documentary…enable us forward it to the appropriate quarters for further investigations,” it added.
But speaking on the show, Joy Sports journalist, George Addo Jnr confirmed that some of the GFA officials were at the premiere of the video on Wednesday.
“They were there,” he stated.
Dissolve GFA
Mr Vanderpuye, like thousands of Ghanaians who have seen the video, says the way to go will be for the entire GFA to be dissolved and a new body put up to man the GFA.
The MP added that if (NDC) had won the election, together with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) they were going to [oust] Nyantakyi as GFA boss in January 2017
“I will not even mind if an interim body takes over the FA…,” George Addo added.
On the position of the local league, the panelists were unanimous in arguing that the local league be halted with immediate effect.
“…which match official is going to officiate,” George asked.
Hans Mensah Andoh argued that the situation where Mr Nyantakyi could be caught on tape unilaterally negotiating a sponsorship deal for the premier league is proof that the Premier League Board shouldn't be part of the GFA.
"Moving forward let us have an independent body organizing our Premier League," he said
Mr Vanderpuye hinted that Parliament will put up a committee to delve into the matter.
