Mr Agyapong has launched an all-out attack against Anas, calling his investigative journalism unethical, as a yet-to-be-released explosive investigative documentary about alleged corruption at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), is set for premiere on June 6-7 in Accra.
In one of his many attacks against Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team, Mr Agyapong sought to suggest that there is more than meets the eye in the existing friendship between Anas and the wife of late MP for Abuakwa North, J.B. Danquah-Adu.
Mr Agyapong has been quoted as saying: “If he dares me, I will ask him if he knows Ivy, J.B’s wife, and for how long…I will show him pictures from UK and Dubai…I am challenging Anas…”
Many have interpreted Mr Agyapong’s outburst as an attempt to link the revered investigative journalist to the mysterious murder of the late NPP MP.
However, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, also an NPP MP for Effutu and a close friend of Mr Agyapong, does not believe the Assin Central MP was linking Anas to the death of J.B Danquah-Adu.
“The issue of Hon. Ken Agyapong being alleged to have said that Anas is linked to the death of J.B Danquah, with the greatest respect, is a matter of speculation because, I have listened to him,” he said on Joy FM/MultiTV current affairs programme, Newsfile, on Saturday.
He has described the public interpretation of Mr Agyapong's statement as “unfortunate,” stating, “J.B Danquah deserves respect even as he is resting in peace.”
He believes concerns over Anas' modus operandi are legitimate, and Mr Agyapong and like-minded persons questioning the evidence gathering methods of the investigative journalist are justified.
Abdul Kwaku Baako Jr, Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, who was also on the news analysis show, told Mr Afenyo-Markin that Mr Agyapong has gone further to categorically allege that Anas had a hand in the murder of J.B Danquah-Adu.
But Afenyo-Markin said that allegation has not come to his attention.
He said, if Mr Agyapong has evidence to link Anas to the death of the MP, then he must do the proper thing and go to the police, not fight the investigative journalist in the media.
“Whoever has evidence would have to follow the appropriate procedure and use the right forum to prove that. That one, no doubt but it is unfortunate,” he told the Newsfile panel.
