WAFA continue to flounder on their travels as they were felled by a single goal against Inter Allies at the last fixture. They are now six points adrift of the top table and sit fifth in the league table. The Sogakope boys have fired blank in their last two matches and are struggling to hit the height of last season. Their admirable home record is set for a test from Medeama on matchday six.
The visitors, despite playing a game less, are level on point with the home side and have lost just a game so far this season. Medeama have found the net three times but are capable of smothering any attack in defence.
Having more than a week rest ahead of this fixture, the Yellow and Mauve will be in tip-top mood and brave enough to take the game to WAFA at their own backyard. Striker Richard Danso and Aminu Mohammed will need to bring their A game on to lift the atmosphere at home as Medeama would be buoyed by successive draws in their last two encounters at Sogakope.
A win for the home team will however move them into top four contention while the away side stay in the mid half of the table.
BECHEM VS DREAMS - FUSO GYEABOUR PARK
12th on the league table, Bechem United have the worst defensive record with eight goals conceded. Despite a point above the relegation zone, they remain the only team to have taken a point from league favourite Ashgold and their recent away draw against Ebusua Dwarfs is proof of a team gradually finding their rhythm. On matchday six, they welcome Dreams FC at the Fuso Gyeabour Park, in a bid to climb up the table.
Dreams’ lofty ambitions demand a win, and a visit to Bechem could be just the catalyst they need to bounce back. The Dewu boys have picked up just a point in their last two games after a defeat and a draw against Hearts of Oak and Karela United respectively.
Notwithstanding their last two results, Coach Karim Zito’s side have profited from the failure of Hearts and Kotoko last week and moved into the third position. Dreams have the upper hand this fixture after managing to secure a point in their last visit to Bechem.
Victory for the Bechem United will move them level on point with Dreams but a defeat means they may drop into the relegation zone.
HEARTS OF OAK VS WA ALL STARS - CAPE COAST
Exhilarating today, exasperating the next. It was a severe disappointment for Hearts of Oak fans when their team lost to Berekum Chelsea by three unanswered goals. The phobians are currently in six position, scoring five and conceding seven. A visit from Wa All Stars in week six should be a welcome affair, as the visitors are not so much in a healthy position.
Wa All Stars, are perched on 11th position on the league rung with five points from five games. However the recent change at the club has had its desired effect, since the departure of Mumuni Sokpari, Coach Castro Sarfo have picked up four points in their last two games.
Hearts of Oak have won two of their last three meetings against Wa All Stars, but have to make better use of the ball if they to beat their opponents. Wa All Stars are the least scoring side (2) in the league despite having a stingy backline that has conceded just three goals.
Matches involving the two sides have always been feisty and full of goals with the last three of them produced eight. The visitors will need a win if they are to avoid the drop.
ASANTE KOTOKO VS DWARFS - BABA YARA STADIUM
Kotoko’s lacklustre performance on the road continued last week at the Len Clay Stadium. Their big game credentials took another blow after a two zero defeat at the hands of Ashgold. Now, they’re playing catch up. Their fans will welcome them back at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium when they take on Ebusua Dwarfs on matchday six.
Dwarfs are currently going true a sticky period, having taken five points from 15 available. Despite their poor run of form, the visitors are just two points behind Kotoko and soon have to turn their season around. They hang in 13th position on the league table.
Both teams have a problem of scoring goals. Kotoko have scored three whiles Dwarfs have notched two. The Cape Coast side are however vulnerable at the back, their defence has shipped in six goals after, matchday five.
Kotoko are yet to drop points at home but coach Paa Kwesi Fabin needs a win to keep pace with the league leaders after blaming his players for the defeat against Ashgold. The Porcupine Warriors have won two of their last three encounters at home to Ebusua Dwarfs, having said that, a win for the visitors will push them up into mid-table position.
LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS VS ASHANTIGOLD - DANSOMAN
Liberty Professionals’ annual habit of making a slow start, has been brought to a stop after ending their two games losing streak. They managed to get their first league victory away from home after matchday five and face Ashanti Gold in their next schedule.
The Scientific Soccer lads should be confident ahead of this fixture as they look to build on the win over Eleven Won Read Full Story
