Fifty-nine [59] Assembly members including government appointees and Municipal Chief Executive took part in an election organized by the assembly.
The vociferous politician needed two-thirds of the total membership to emerge victoriously.
He obtained 55 YES with 4 No votes to retain his position.
Opooman was subsequently sworn into office by a Kumasi High Court judge, Justice Nicholas Abodakpi after getting the two-thirds of the membership.
