Mukarama Abdulai tops African scoring chart

Black Maidens captain Mukarama Abdulai’s hat trick against Djibouti on Sunday ensured that she finished top scorer in the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup African qualifiers with 12 goals in four matches.

Abdulai scored five times against Gambia over two legs scoring four in the first leg and one in the second as Ghana progressed with a 7-1 aggregate win during the first round of qualifiers.

The 16 year old grabbed an extra four goals in Ghana’s 9-0 first leg win over Djibouti in the final round of qualifiers, and her hat-trick on Sunday took her overall tally to 12 goals as the Maidens won 10-0 and 19-0 on aggregate.

Abdulai will be instrumental for Ghana at the tournament which will be played from 13 November – 1 December 2018 in Uruguay.

Ghana will know her opponents for the tournament when the official draw is done on 30 May 2018. Read Full Story
