The youth had locked up the District Chief Executive (DCE), Nana Okyere Tawiah, in his office following a court ruling that the district capital should be moved from Foase to Twedie.
A court ruling in 2012 directed the relocation of the capital and authorities have instituted measures to abide by the ruling.
The youth who were unhappy about the decision decided to vandalize vehicles and burn car tyres at the DCE's office.
It took the intervention of the police who had to fire teargas and warning shots to disperse the irate youth and ensure calm.
