43rd SWAG MTN Awards fixed for April 28

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), has fixed Saturday, April 28, for the 43rd MTN/SWAG Awards at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra.

This was disclosed by Mr. Kwabena Yeboah, President of SWAG during the launch of the 43rd edition of the awards scheme at the MTN House, Ridge, Accra on Thursday.

Mr. Yeboah said, the MTN/SWAG Awards is the most transparent, prestigious, distinguished and longest running awards scheme for sports men and women over the 42 years.

He said the 43rd edition would see 49 nominees in 21 categories, out of 18 sports disciplines honoured on the night.

According to the president, the Sports Personality of the Year award, would be named on the night of the ceremony and plans are in place to invite new Liberia President George Weah as Special Guest of Honour.

Mr. Robert Kuzoe, Ag. Corporate Services Executive of MTN, said there was the need for SWAG to initiate ideas that fall within the digital agenda of MTN.

He said more interest and excitement can be created with the use of social media platforms to expose the nominees and enhance the event.

He urged corporate Ghana to support sporting activities such as the annual SWAG Awards Night.

The SWAG awards night, is also supported by partners like CDH, Goil, ATL, Ferro Phones, StarTimes and Activa Insurance. Read Full Story
