The Norwegian born Ghanaian shot-stopper was last named in Ghana’s 2-0 defeat to the Pharoah’s of Egypt in 2016 under the leadership of Avram Grant.
Despite racking up 16 caps for the Black Stars over a period of five years, his time with the team was persistently dogged by controversy especially during the Brazil 2014 World Cup where reports emerged that skipper Asamoah Gyan and defender John Boye allegedly wanted him benched over his lack of command over any of Ghana’s local dialects.
It was also later alleged that Kwarasey had taken an entrenched position against then goalkeeper’s trainer Nasam Yakubu over what he believed were sub par and outmoded methods of training.
In an interview with Kumasi based Nhyira FM, Kwesi Appiah, disclosed that bringing Kwarasey back into the fold has been a major priority of his since taking over but to no avail.
“There is no single call-up where I don’t consider Adam Kwarasey. “I talked to him and asked Richard Kingson to take it up from there. “Whenever it is almost time for call-ups he makes excuses.
“No player should feel bigger than Ghana,Ghana is bigger than any player,” he indicated.
