It is the first visit of the President to the town after the town got into the news for all the wrong reasons.
Denkyira-Obuasi was at the butt end of national outrage after a commander of a military detachment there, Major Maxwell Adam Mahama was lynched on May 29, 2017, by a mob.
Since then, the residents have been pleading with the President to visit the town stereotyped by the lynching. The DCE Daniel Appianin was suspended by the President for making unguarded comments following the lynching.
