Books and Boots project scouts Eastern Region

Officials of Books and Boots Ghana on Saturday July 23rd held a day's scouting session in the Eastern Region town of Apirede.

The six member team included two football coaches, two reading coaches a local scout George Darko and the country Navigator of Books and Boots Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

The team paid courtesy calls on some elders, opinion leaders and education officers as well as other decision makers in the community.

An inspection of two sites primed for hostel facilities and an educational centre was led by Mr Victor Oteng Ayeh who welcomed the delegation.

The books and boots Academy is inspired by the path and vision of the renowned Barcelona FC Academy that has produced some of the worlds best footballers including Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Lionel Messi

Initially targeting inner city communities and deprived neighbourhoods, the non-profit organization has organized tours in over 120 communities since 2009.

Books and Boots was first introduced as a partner to the One Goal Project just ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

A primary objective of Books and Boots is to encourage youngsters to take their education seriously by joining after school reading clubs which is spearheaded by Active Minds Reading Club. Read Full Story
