The decision taken by CAF’s executive committee at a two day symposium in Rabat is one among a few key recommendations passed when the continent’s top football administrators converged.
Appiah who featured for the Black Stars in the Afcon 2015 tournament is of the opinion that this new resolution will put to rest tensions that come up between club officials and national federations when the tournament comes around.
”I never would have had that problem myself.
But you probably do get some players who pull out because they don’t want to leave or upset their club.
They don’t want to lose their place in the team.
No manager would come out openly and say I don’t want my player to play in this tournament.
But I’m sure there is some pressure behind closed doors.” he told the BBC in an interview."
The new resolution is expected to come into effect during the 2019 Afcon in Cameroon.
