Kwesi Appiah began his second stint as Black Stars Head Coach by leading team to an emphatic 5-0 win over Ethiopia in their opening game of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.
The former AS Khartoum manager replaced former Black Stars head coach Avram Grant who resigned after the team’s failure to win the 2017 AFCON.
Hon. Oppong Nkrumah believes the competence shown by Kwesi Appiah in his first few weeks in charge shows the capability of Ghanaians in managing their own affairs.
“Often we are given the reason that, because of quality of output, and sometimes associated financial muscle, it is preferred that a foreign hand guides us through,” he said.
“As we celebrate coach Kwesi Appiah and encourage the Black Stars to go higher, it is important to remind ourselves across various sectors of our national life that we have already made a commitment to the entire world that we are capable of building a nation whose own people are capable of managing their own affairs.
“So, as the opportunity beckons in many areas, we should have this favourable local content approach not just in football, but in many other areas.”
Kwesi Appiah will lead the Black Stars into two friendly games against Mexico and the United States on June 28 and July 1, 2017. Read Full Story
