Andre Ayew echoes the need to prioritize football

Deputy Captain of the Black Stars, Andre Dede Ayew, says there is great need to make great use of football because it remains the greatest focus of every Ghanaian youth.

The 27-year-old in collaboration with uniBank (Ghana) Limited organised a football clinic for young ones between the ages of 12 and 15 at the Junction Mall, Nungua on Saturday June 17, 2017.

The West Ham forward who is the brand Ambassador for uniBank spent time with the youth as he engaged them numerous activities that will inspire these kids to achieve their respective dreams.

“Firstly I want to thank God for bringing us this far, I want say a big thank you to uniBank for giving the young the opportunity to love our game. I think football is great sport in the world especially Ghana. We need to realize and make good use of it because we can see how the future generation put their mind on the game,” Ayew noted.

He added: “So for me anytime I come to Ghana and see the young ones, you see how footballers ask about West Ham, Manchester United and Real Madrid, …, you feel football is all they know.

“As a Ghanaian being here is great thing for me, giving them few words of advice because I was in their ‘shoes’ in the past and I was lucky my dad was playing in the Black Stars so I had the opportunity to meet the players more often. But it was a similar life I dreamt of, that is what made me who I am today,” Ayew told reporters.

The football clinic also saw great Ghanaian football stars which includes former Black Stars Captain Stephen Appiah and two current players of the Black Stars, John Boye and Mubarak Wakaso.
