In an interview with GhanaWeb, the Flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party said that she would not sit aloof for persons who commit crime to be let free on the basis of relations or closeness.
Madam Donkor who revealed that one of the accused persons, Barnabas Kayase hails from the same town as her after being questioned by the counsel, Vincent Aikins.
Speaking after the case however, she indicated that her relations with the gentleman will not be the basis on which she covers up for his crime and that of his accomplices.
“I won’t say just because you are from my town and you’ve committed crime or killed a person, I will cover up for you, I will not condone evil she said.
Meanwhile Akua Donkor in court revealed that she is unable to name the particular state she wanted to visit when she planned her trip to America adding however that she is prepared to submit her passport and ticket to the courts to verify.
She revealed this when Lawyer Vincent Aikins during the cross-examination questioned her on what state she intended travelling to and the purpose of her going there..
Background
Akua Donkor, is said to have been robbed of her travelling bag containing plane ticket, Ghanaian passport, Voter’s ID, an amount of $30,000 and GHC at Suotuom in Accra earlier this year.
The accused persons; Yakubu Yusif who is said to chairman of the party and a Trader, Barnabas Kayase, her driver and secretary of the party, Opoku Agyemang, a Trader and Abdul Razak Shaibu of the GPRTU Task Force appeared before the circuit court Monday, March 21 2017.
Two other accomplices; Joe and Nuamah aka Lion are currently on the run.
Chief Superintendent Duuti Tuaruka who introduced the case, said on December 30, 2016 at Taifa in Accra, the six persons conspired to rob Madam Akua Donkor, the GFP flag bearer for Election 2016.
He said the accused persons at about 2:30 am at Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra, robbed Madam Donkor at gunpoint and snatched her travelling bag containing plane ticket, Ghanaian passport, voter ID card, $30,000 and GH¢3,000. Read Full Story
