Acute water shortage hits parts of N/R

An acute water shortage has hit Dagbon and Gonjalands in the Northern region. The situation according to our regional correspondent, Prince Kwame Tamakloe has forced the Reagent of Dagbon, Kampakuya Naa Yakubu Andani and the chief of the Gonjas Yagbonwura Tutumba to appeal to authorities to intervene.

The hard hit areas include Saboba, Yendi and other adjoining communities The Ghana Water Company in the area says the situation has been necessitated by some obsolete machines which they have asked for them to be repaired.

The shortfalls in rainfall has into the Oti River has also contributed to the challenge, they added.

Residents have been compelled to rely on sachet water, dugout wells, streams and boreholes for water for domestic activities
