March 16 marks 48 years since Ghana won their third Africa Cup of Nations title, defeating Uganda 2-0 in the final at the Accra Sports Stadium in 1978.
The victory was historic as Ghana became the first nation to win the AFCON trophy three times and keep it permanently.
Legendary striker Opoku Afriyie scored both goals in the final, sealing the triumph and writing his name into Ghanaian football history.
The team was captained by Awuley Quaye and featured some of the country’s most celebrated footballers, including Karim Abdul Razak and Mohammed Polo.
