Ghanaian defender Moses Mensah has signed for American side Spokane Velocity FC, the club announced on Tuesday as GHANAsoccernet.com understands
The left-back joins the USL League One outfit ahead of the 2026 season, subject to league and federation approval, after recently departing South Georgia Tormenta FC following the club’s closure.
Mensah arrives in Spokane with valuable experience in the United States after spending three seasons with Birmingham Legion FC between 2023 and 2025.
During that period, he made 75 appearances and accumulated more than 4,000 minutes for the club.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a notable 2024 campaign where he finished joint-fourth in assists for Birmingham with three while also registering 180 defensive duels and 104 successful duels across the season.
Before his professional spell in the USL Championship, Mensah was selected by Real Salt Lake with the 74th overall pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft following an impressive college career.
He starred for Campbell University between 2019 and 2022, earning All-Conference First Team honours four times.
Mensah was also named Big South Freshman of the Year in 2019 and later won the Big South Defender of the Year award during his collegiate career.
During his time in college, the Ghanaian defender also gained USL League Two experience with Des Moines Menace in 2021, helping the club win the league championship after making nine appearances. He also featured for One Knoxville SC in 2022.
Mensah began his career in Ghana with WA All Stars, where he was part of the team that won the Ghana Premier League title in 2016.
Speaking on the signing, Spokane Velocity head coach Leigh Veidman praised the defender’s qualities and experience.
“Moses is a strong addition to our roster. After spending the last three years in the USL Championship, he brings great experience, depth, and quality to our backline,” Veidman said.
“His strong 1v1 abilities and his attacking mindset fit exactly what we look for in our fullbacks.”
Mensah is expected to make his first appearance for Spokane Velocity when the club hosts Union Omaha at ONE Spokane Stadium on March 15.
