Asante Kotoko interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu has pointed to his side's inefficiency in front of goal as the primary reason for their frustrating goalless draw against Vision FC at Baba Yara Stadium.
Speaking after the Week 24 Ghana Premier League encounter, Owusu described the match as "open" but lamented his team's inability to deliver where it mattered most.
"It was an open game. Vision is not a bad side. When they get the ball, they do what they want to do, and we also play when we get the ball, but when we get to the final turf, we just mess it up, and it's a problem we need to work on," he said.
The statistics paint a clear picture of dominance without reward. Kotoko enjoyed 60% possession and created numerous opportunities, registering nine shots on target and eight off target. Vision FC, despite playing part of the match with ten men, managed seven shots on target and three off target.
The result leaves Kotoko stranded in fourth place, now seven points adrift of the league leaders. For Owusu, the message is urgent: the approach play is working, but the finishing must improve if the season is to be salvaged.
