Asante Kotoko interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has voiced growing frustration over midfielder Hubert Gyau’s decision-making in front of goal, following a goalless draw with Vision FC at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The stalemate compounds a turbulent spell for the Porcupine Warriors, who had lost twice and secured a solitary 2-0 victory over Young Apostles prior to Saturday’s match.
Owusu singled out Gyau for failing to make simple choices in scoring positions.
“For the past two weeks, we’ve been having a problem with Gyau in the final third.
“He had a ball in the first half; it was just a tap-in (that was needed), but he always wants to shoot, and even in the warm-up [it came up], so on my way to the dressing room I told him, please just tap it in.
“You are standing in front of the post; you don’t need to shoot the ball that hard, and he had difficulty to tap the ball in,” Prince Owusu said.
The result leaves Kotoko trailing in the Ghana Premier League title race. Sitting third with 39 points, they are now seven points behind leaders Medeama.
