Spanish coach Jose Daniel Martinez Alfonso has been appointed to the Black Stars technical team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Martinez Alfonso joins the Black Stars setup in a role focused on scouting, match preparation, and performance analysis. He currently serves as an assistant coach and video analyst with Atlanta United FC, where he has been involved in tactical planning and opposition analysis at the Major League Soccer level.
His appointment forms part of a broader expansion of the Black Stars’ technical structure for the team’s fifth appearance at the global showpiece. The move aligns with the GFA’s long-standing practice of reinforcing the national team’s technical bench whenever Ghana qualifies for major international tournaments.
Martinez Alfonso is expected to work closely with head coach Otto Addo and the rest of the technical team, providing detailed analysis to support tactical decisions and player preparation.
Ghana will face Panama, England, and Croatia at the tournament, as the Black Stars look to make a strong impression on the world stage.
