Ghana captain Jordan Ayew cast his vote in the 2025 FIFA The Best Men’s Player award, placing Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer first, ahead of France captain Kylian Mbappé, with Ousmane Dembele ranked third.
Ayew was eligible to vote in his capacity as Ghana’s national team captain, with his selections contributing to the captains’ voting bloc.
The FIFA The Best awards are decided through a balanced system, with votes split evenly between national team captains, national team coaches, journalists, and fans, each accounting for 25 per cent of the final outcome.

Despite Ayew’s preference for Palmer, it was Paris St-Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembélé who emerged as the overall winner. The 28-year-old claimed the award after a standout 2024-25 season in which he played a central role in PSG’s historic first Champions League triumph and helped the club secure four major trophies.
Dembele’s consistency across domestic and European competitions proved decisive, as he finished ahead of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Mbappe in the final standings.
