Jamie Leweling scored and set the tone as VfB Stuttgart swept Werder Bremen aside in a commanding 4â0 Bundesliga win at the Weserstadion on Sunday evening.
The German-Ghanaian winger started brightly, ran at defenders, and gave the home side problems before striking in the 44th minute. Leweling collected the ball outside the box and drove a right foot shot high into the net to double Stuttgart’s lead. He left the pitch after 82 minutes to loud applause from the traveling fans.
Stuttgart had already gone ahead through Bilal El Khannouss, who headed home from Leweling’s fine cross on 40 minutes. Bremen struggled to respond and were reduced to ten men when Karim Coulibaly was sent off just before the hour mark.
With space opening up, Stuttgart stayed calm and ruthless. Leweling turned provider again in the 79th minute, slipping a neat pass to Deniz Undav, who finished with ease. Chris Führich wrapped up the scoring deep into added time.
Stuttgart dominated the ball, created more chances, and never lost control, sealing an away win before their test against Hoffenheim.
