The Football4Girls initiative in the Upper West Region continues to build momentum, underscoring the strong collaboration between the Ghana Football Association’s Technical Directorate and the Ghana Education Service.
Rooted in the GFA’s Women’s Football Strategy, the programme seeks to identify and nurture young female talent while removing barriers that restrict girls’ participation in football. It aims to create equal access to the sport for girls in basic schools and empower them to pursue football with confidence.
The latest outreach in the Nadowli Kaleo District drew wide support from education authorities, including Deputy GES Director Michael Azaasomah Kpan and his teamâLampson Adams Lengwa, Bernard K. Luginaa, Victoria Dindobuo and Albert S. Volsuur, alongside head teachers and teaching staff.
Head of Women’s Football Development, Jennifer Amankwah, led the engagement, presenting a detailed overview of the Women’s Football Strategy to pupils, parents and community leaders. She addressed misconceptions about girls playing football and encouraged participants to embrace the sport as both a passion and a potential professional pathway.
The GFA reaffirmed its commitment to driving grassroots development through the Football4Girls Project and the wider Women’s Football Strategy, stressing its readiness to provide continued support, resources and opportunities to help expand participation and empower more girls nationwide.
