Accra Hearts of Oak suffered a shock MTN FA Cup exit as lower-league side True Life snatched a dramatic 1-0 win at the death.
The Phobians dominated long spells of the tie but lacked composure in the final third, and the longer the game stayed goalless, the more belief grew in the underdogs from the lower ranks.​
True Life’s moment arrived deep in the second half, when a rare attack was finished clinically to silence the Hearts supporters and send their bench into wild celebrations. Hearts pushed desperately for an equaliser through the six added minutes, but a mix of wasteful finishing and brave defending from True Life ensured the upset was complete.​
At full-time, Hearts of Oak posted: “It is finished. We are out,” capturing the disappointment of fans and players after a day that promised so much but ended in frustration.
The result means the Phobians must regroup quickly, with all focus now shifting to their Ghana Premier League clash against Karela United on December 7, where a strong response will be demanded.
