Ghanaian centre-back Manu Duah has made history with San Diego FC after the MLS inaugural side reached the Western Conference final.
Duah played full throttle as San Diego defeated Minnesota United 1-0 in the semi-final to become the second inaugural team to make it to the final of their Conference, where they will face Vancouver Whitecaps.
This comes 27 years after Chicago Fire reached the final of the Eastern Conference in their inaugural year.
The Ghanaian youngster has been a revelation for San Diego this season, helping them finish top of the Western Conference in the regular season, before eliminating Portland Timbers and Minnesota United in the playoffs. San Diego FC, with the 20-year-old at the heart of defence, are yet to concede in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Duah has made 18 appearances for San Diego in his first season in the MLS, becoming a key figure for the title-chasers.
His performances for San Diego has gained him attention from Ghanaians with former Black Stars midfielder Derek Boateng recommending him for the national team.
"Watching you everyday in training and matches on weekends as a centre back and how confident and disciplined you are, to play in that position, Manu Duah I think is about time the national team of Ghana Black Stars benefit from your talent," Boateng posted on social media.
Duah was the number 1 MLS draft pick from 2024, following his performances at UC Santa Barbara.
