Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has rued missed chances following his team’s 2-1 defeat to Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday afternoon.
Speaking in his post-match interview after the outstanding league fixture, the experienced tactician argued that his team should have won the game, having played very well and created so many chances.
“Kotoko should have won this game. Seriously, we should have won this game. Once again, we squandered the chances, and they took their chances, so to me we shouldn’t have lost this game, but it’s part of the game, so it’s okay,” Karim Zito said after the match.
The Asante Kotoko coach added, “Everybody wants to beat Kotoko. We didn’t play badly. We played good football, but putting the ball in the back of the net was once again the problem.
“This is football, we are playing at home on Sunday, the team that leads the table leads us by three points. So we are still chasing.”
The defeat to Holy Stars means Asante Kotoko have missed a golden opportunity to go top of the Ghana Premier League table.
The win gives Holy Stars a huge three points that takes their point tally to 10, and just one win away from climbing out of the relegation zone.
