Karim Zito is making it clear that motivation must come from both sides, from him as a coach and from the players themselves.
Ahead of Asante Kotoko’s outstanding match-week three clash against Basake Holy Stars at the AAK II Arena on Wednesday, he stressed that every player signed for the club with a purpose.
The Kotoko coach reminded his squad that they didn’t join the Porcupine Warriors just to wear the famous jersey, but to play well and improve their careers.
"I have to motivate them but before somebody motivates you you have to use the intrinsic motivation to motivate yourself the desire you join Kotoko not because it is Asante Kotoko. You join Kotoko because you want to play good and then enhance your life as a footballer so I think with all this journey around us the most important thing is to rest especially a day before a game," as aired by Peace FM.
"You know how to manage yourself because you need energy like yesterday's game energy was spent if you dont have that energy definitely you cant play. So everybody wants to beat Kotoko it is a fact the way they play against Kotoko I dont think they play against themselves like that so when you are in Kotoko you have to be ready for every thing every situation. Just like a coach I have so many criticisms some for some against but yet I have to stand by myself and take it in good faith this is Asante Kotoko,"
Kotoko enter the match unbeaten in 10 games, still the only side yet to lose this season.
