The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in partnership with FIFA, has concluded the second phase of the Referee Capacity Building Course under the FIFA Women’s Development Programme: League Development.
Held from October 14â17, 2025, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, the training targeted members of the Catch Them Young (CTY) Female Referee initiative, a flagship project aimed at nurturing and developing young female referees nationwide.
Participants received in-depth training on modern refereeing techniques, game management, and professionalism to prepare them for top-level competitions while strengthening the foundation of women’s football in Ghana.
A major highlight of the course was the testimony of Referee Emmanuella Aglago, one of the outstanding products of the CTY initiative, who shared her inspiring journey to encourage participants to remain disciplined and goal-driven.
The programme also showcased the positive impact of Catch Them Young in increasing female participation across various roles in football, from officiating and coaching to administration.
This initiative aligns with FIFA’s global vision to have 60 million girls and women actively involved in football by 2027, promoting inclusivity, technical excellence, and sustainable growth in the women’s game.
