Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has instructed his players to put their recent CAF Confederation Cup success behind them and fully focus on their Ghana Premier League ambition, starting with Sunday's match against Heart of Lions.
The Porcupine Warriors return to the Baba Yara Stadium for their domestic fixture after advancing in the continental competition with a 1-0 win over Kwara United in Nigeria. Despite the positive result, Zito is demanding immediate mental shift towards the league.
He explicitly warned his team against complacency, using other Ghanaian clubs as cautionary tales. "Samartex had the same problem, Nsoatreman had the same problem," Zito stated. "So I told them for now, we are thinking of Heart of Lions; all what we did against Kwara United should be put aside. Kwara United is now history."
The coach directly linked the upcoming game to the club's ultimate domestic goal. "If really our target is to win the Ghana Premier League, then we should beat Heart of Lions," he asserted, confident that his squad would not underestimate their opponents.
The match against Heart of Lions kicks off at 3:00 PM GMT on Sunday, October 5.
