Players and officials from all ten Regional Football Associations, along with the two GFA Elite Academies, are gathering at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram ahead of the 2025 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship.
Delegations from Greater Accra, Greater Accra Elite, Elite Bolga, Northern, Upper East, Western, and Ashanti Regions were the first to arrive on Friday morning. Later in the day, teams from Volta, Upper West, Eastern, Central, and Brong Ahafo Regions will also check in, officially ushering in activities for the nine-day juvenile football tournament.
All participants will undergo screening and orientation on Friday, September 19, with the Championship scheduled to kick off on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
In line with the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to nurturing young talent, matches will be officiated by referees drawn from the GFA’s flagship “Catch Them Young” Refereeing Program—an initiative that has already developed hundreds of promising officials who have gained valuable experience at Division One level.
Now in its fifth edition, the KGL Foundation–sponsored Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship returns for a second consecutive year to the Prampram Technical Centre, following earlier events in Accra and Kumasi.
Launched in 2021, the tournament has become a proven platform for talent discovery, with several players progressing to Ghana Premier League and Division One clubs. Each Regional Football Association has selected its best U17 players from local Colts competitions to represent their regions, joining the two GFA Elite Academies in this year’s showcase of emerging stars.
It is worth recalling that in October 2021 the Ghana Football Association announced a landmark five-year, $1 million sponsorship agreement with the KGL Foundation to support juvenile football development nationwide.
