The CAF Safe Stadium Initiative workshop, which opened on Tuesday, has ended successfully in Accra after three days of intensive training aimed at strengthening stadium safety and security in Ghana and across African football.
The programme, hosted at the Ghana Football Association headquarters, brought together Safety and Security Officers from all 18 Premier League clubs, members of the GFA Security Committee, and 16 Regional Sports Police Officers. Participants were taken through CAF Safety and Security Regulations, Accreditation and Access Control, Crowd Management Techniques, and Pre-, During-, and Post-Match Security Protocols.
In attendance were GFA Executive Council member Eugene Noel Noble, General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq.), COP Lydia Donkor, Chairperson of the GFA Safety and Security Committee, as well as GHALCA Chairman and National Safety and Security Officer John Ansah. Also present were club executives, including Kennedy Boakye Ansah of Nations FC, Delali Anku-Adiamah of Accra Hearts of Oak, and representatives from Bibiani Gold Stars and Heart of Lions.
The workshop was led by CAF security experts Xololi Nokithula Vilakati (Eswatini) and Sylvanus Obi (Nigeria). Certificates were awarded to all participants.
The CAF Safe Stadium Initiative is part of a continent-wide effort to standardise safety measures, prevent stadium-related tragedies, and ensure football matches at all levels are hosted in secure environments for fans, teams, and stakeholders.
