Black Stars forward Jerry Afriyie has welcomed his new challenge in Belgium after sealing a loan move to RAAL La Louviere in the summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old striker joins the newly-promoted Belgian topflight side for the 2025/26 season from Saudi Pro League outfit Al Qadsiah.
Having joined the club from Thoughts FC in 2024, Afriyie brief spent time with the team during pre-season before he was shipped out again on loan.
Last season, the former Ghana U20 star spent half of the campaign at CD Lugo in the Spanish lower division, where he scored four goals and delivered two assists.
Ahead of his debut for RAAL, Afriyie disclosed how poised he is to get started.
"New challenge begins," he posted on Instagram as he arrived in Belgium for the newest chapter of his budding career.
Afriyie was Ghana's breakout star in 2024 with standout performances for Ghana’s U-20 team, the Black Satellites, before making his senior debut for the Black Stars.
His quick rise earned him recognition as a future star for Ghanaian football, with his blistering pace, dribbling ability, and clinical finishing making him a handful for defenders.
La Louviere are confident the Ghanaian striker will play a key role in their attack as they aim to establish themselves in the Belgian top division.
The move represents another important step in Afriyie’s development, providing him with valuable experience in a competitive European league.
