Amin Adam not on top of issues regarding betting tax implementation â?? Finance Minister Ato Forson
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has suggested that former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam is not well-informed about the implementation of the 10% withholding tax on betting winnings.His comments followed remarks by Amin Adam, who had argued that the tax was never enforced under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.The former minister questioned how the current administration could claim they will abolish a tax that was never implemented.Speaking on JoyNews on Tuesday, Dr. Forson stated that his checks confirmed the tax was enforced in the second half of 2024, contrary to claims by Amin Adam.He added that the government had already collected GH80 million in revenue from the tax.I dont think he is on top of that matter because my checks reveal that it was implemented in the second half of 2024, he said.My checks also reveal that year to date, the government of Ghana has collected GH80 million from the betting tax. So I dont know what he is talking about.
