Italian football league is preparing a new technology to combat racism

The Italian Football League is preparing face recognition technology to identify the fans responsible for racist chants at stadiums.

The European has been shamed by the growing racism incidents in various Italian football stadiums as clubs and league have been previously reluctant to clamp down on such acts.

In the current season, Romel Lukaku, Franck Kessie, Dalbert Henrique, Miral Panic, Ronaldo Vieira, Kalidou Koulibaly and Mario Balotelli have been the targets of racist chants.

With the clubs now being affected globally by the issue of racism, they were recently forced to call a collective meeting to vow to fight such incidents during their matches.

Now the Serie A say they have found a solution that can surpass the action that the former British PM Margaret Thatcher that helped the English Premier League to fight the menace.

"We are waiting for permission from the Privacy Office. We should get this with the help of the government. As soon as the photos are available, the clubs can directly intervene," Serie A head Luigi De Sierv said

"We will achieve in two years what former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher did in ten," the official added.
