Head coach and technical director of Division One League side Star Madrid FC Michael Osei says it is too early to start the 2019/2020 football season in December.
The Ghana U23 assistant coach claims it has been long players stayed at home without playing and will need enough time to get back to their best.
There has been no league since June 2008 following a corruption scandal exposé which halted all football activities in the country.
"I don't think is a good idea to start the league this December, a lot of the teams were on break for some months, some even didn't kick a ball for almost a year. A lot of the players have been rusty and needs some time to prepare" He told OTEC FM in Kumasi.
Osei suggested the start of 2019/2020 league season should be in the middle of January.
"I think the commencement of the league should be in the middle of January because starting it in December won't help. We are already far behind time and can't synchronize with the European calendar. Is better they (GFA) plan and prepare the game very well so that people can enjoy the beauty of it."
The new football season has been scheduled to kick-off on 28 December 2019.
