Barcelona must pay €8m to sign Ghana star Kevin-Prince Boateng on a permanent contract from Italian side Sassuolo in the summer, Ghanasoccernet.com can reveal.
The Catalan side are in the final stages of talks to sign Boateng from Sassuolo on loan but they will have the first option of signing the midfielder on a permanent deal.
There were shockwaves today when announcing Boateng was on the verge of sealing a transfer to Camp Nou.
It’ll be a loan deal worth €2m with option to buy for a further €8m at the end of the season.
It’s reported Boateng said goodbye to his teammates at lunch today and will undergo his medical tomorrow.
Barcelona have been impressed with Boateng's performances in a false 9 role and feel they could benefit from his experience in their bid for silverware.
Boateng joined Sassuolo in the summer and despite an injury forcing him to sit out for several weeks, he has scored four goals in 13 Serie A fixtures.
Barca had previously been keeping an eye on the situation at Chelsea regarding Alvaro Morata, but they are crying out for someone with plenty of experience who will fight for a spot and force Luis Suarez to up his game.
The 31-year-old may may have spent the last few years out of the spotlight, with Sassuolo and Las Palmas, but he has plenty of experience playing in top-flight across Europe.
