English born Ghanaian prodigy Callum Hudson-Odoi says he is proud of his outstanding performance in Chelsea's "deserved victory' in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The 18 year old provided two assists as the Blues defeated championship side Nottingham Forest 2-0 to progress to the fourth round of the competition. Both goals were scored by Spanish forward Alvaro Morata.
"I feel really proud to get an opportunity to play and just to help the team get the win we deserved," Hudson-Odoi told the club's website. "I think we played really well and our mentality was strong. Alvaro did really well getting his goals and we all worked hard as a team. We deserved the win."
Following a barren first half at Stamford Bridge, the U-17 World Cup winner revealed the team were determined to avoid a replay by sticking to the manager's plan.
Hudson Odoi then provided the first of his assists four minutes after the break.
‘That’s the only way," the 18 year old said."‘If we don’t score, we keep going again and keep pushing until we do get the goal. I think the way we played today, we showed the desire to keep pushing and pushing.
"We know that if we keep making chances the goal will come so we’ve just got to patient sometimes, keep going and, luckily it came together today."
Hudson-Odoi became the first teenager to provide two assists in a Chelsea match since Scott Sinclair 11 years ago and the winger expressed delight in making history at the club.
"I’m delighted to hear that and hopefully today showed why we are doing well," he said. ‘We are working very hard in training every day and I’m proud to make a little bit of history. But it’s not just about myself, it’s about the team – we all did well so it’s congratulations to the team for the victory."
