Sporting Director of German club Mainz O5 Rouven Schröder wants Ghanaian forward Abass Issah to fight for playing time at the club or go for a loan where he gets to play.
The 19 year old forward has struggled to make a breakthrough in the German Bundesliga, finding himself confined to mostly the bench or out of the match day squad.
According to Mainz manager Sandro Schwarz, the player is only part of his long term plans and will need time and patience to understand the German game.
Meanwhile, Rouven Schröder believes the potential has got the former Olimpija Ljubljana striker has the potential but needs some game time elsewhere, possible a loan move.
"Since he has a Ghanaian passport, there is no way for him to play in the U-23, but he has to go to the field, and he deserves it," explains sporting director Rouven Schröder.
The former Black Starlets captain signed a five year deal with the club on transfer deadline day.
The 20 year old has featured only once for Mainz in the Bundesliga, when they drew 0-0 with Hertha Berlin at the Opel Arena in October.
The 20-year-old enjoyed the last eight minutes of action when he replaced Jean-Philippe Mateta.
In September, he made his debut for the club by coming on as a substitute in the 60th minute to help Mainz defeat TuS Koblenz 2-0 in a friendly.
