Black Meteors forward Kwabena Owusu has expressed delight in helping the team reach the next stage of the qualifiers despite suffering a 1-0 defeat to Togo in Lome last Saturday.
The Black Meteors progressed to the next stage after a 5-2 aggregate win over the Hawks, and will next face Gabon in the penultimate round of qualifiers.
Salamanca striker Kwabena Owusu scored a hat-trick in the U-23's 5-1 thrashing of Togo in Kumasi but could not find the back of the net in Lome.
Despite the defeat in Togo, Owusu expressed satisfaction in his sides progress.
“Ganamos Salamanca importante and I’m very happy with my national team for qualifying to the next round,” he posted on Twitter.
Ghana will host Gabon on March 20, 2019 before embarking for the reverse encounter four days later.
The winner of that tie will go on to the final round of qualifiers for Egypt 2019, which will also serve as qualifiers for Tokyo 2010.
The Black Meteors have not been to the Olympic games since Athens 2014.
