Ghana U-23 captain Isaac Twum has stated his side will avoid complacency ahead of the second leg clash against Togo in the AFCON U-23 qualifiers.
The Black Meteors travel to Lome with a huge advantage after thumping neigbours Togo 5-1 in Kumasi on Tuesday.
Despite the big win in midweek, the IK Start midfielder insists his side will eschew complacency as they set sight on qualifying for the AFCON U-23 championship in Togo next year.
“I believe we did very well if you look at the circumstances we found ourselves in after the first half, ” Twum told Goal.
“When they equalised and we later missed the penalty, the pressure was mounting on us. The players did extremely well to keep their cool and that helped us to score four goals in the second half.
“We deserved this victory and I’m satisfied because it would help us make it to the next stage of the qualifiers. We will not be complacent in the return leg in Lome on Saturday, ” he added.
The winner of the two legged game, will face Gabon in the next phase of the qualifiers.
