Crystal Palace assistant manager Ray Lewington has urged Jeffrey Schlupp to start firing as the Eagles continue the search of ending their abysmal poor goal-scoring form.
The London-based side have largely relied up Wilfred Zaha and Luka Milivojevic to dig them out of trouble in the absence of top marksman Christian Benteke who underwent a knee surgery in September and is expected to return in January.
In his absence, Palace have struggled to hit the target as Jordan Ayew and Alexander Sorloth have been in pale shadows of themselves.
Speaking to the club's official mouthpiece ahead of this weekend's game against Burnley, Lewington discussed the role of summer signing Alexander Meyer and also touched on Schlupp's inability to add goals to his game.
"We need players like him, Macca [James McArthur], Schluppy [Jeffrey Schlupp] and Andros [Townsend] to chip in with goals, as well as the centre forwards and the full-backs getting forward.
"He [Meyer] likes playing on the left, he doesn't like playing on the right. I think he is an extremely good player and he is growing every day in training as he gets more confident and gets to know the way we play and the way we want him to play.
"He is really good. But he is a modern player, in that you can’t say he is this or that.
"He is definitely not a winger, and he is definitely not a sitting midfield player, because he doesn’t have that strength you need to sit as a deeper midfielder to win a few tackles. He will win a few, but you wouldn't say that is his real asset.
"His asset is getting the ball in tight areas, and wriggling out of it and keeping the ball moving. He is good at that, but we need end product from all of these lads.
"When we say we lack goals, it is not just the centre forwards. The modern game is not like that and everyone has got to contribute. Our midfield players have got to start doing that, all of them."
