Football Kenya Federation PRO assures Ghana of tight security at Kasarani Stadium

Head of Communications at the Football Kenya Federation Barry Otieno has assured Ghana of tight and adequate security at the Kasarani Stadium which will host their AFCON 2019 qualifier match.

The Harambee Stars kicked off the campaign with a 2-1 lose against Sierra Leone, and Sebastien Migne will need a victory to stand a chance for qualifying to Cameroon with nothing but a victory against Ghana on September 8 at the Kasarani Stadium.

The aforementioned Stadium witnessed hooliganism during the Mashemeji derby last Saturday where fans vandalized a section of the stadium.

However, speaking on Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Barry Otieno assured that the 65,000 capacity edifice will be under heavy security during the match.

"The game will be played at the Kasarani National Stadium 65000 seater at the heart of Nairobi kick off 4pm Kenyan time."

"The Ghana team will be safe what happened over the weekend was unfortunate but it also happens in football"

"For the Kenya verses Ghana match we have put all the security apparatus in to force ,we have a good number of police, we have a good number of stewards, we have a good number of bouncers."

"The Ghanaian team will be well taken care of. Kenya is a very peaceful country and you know Cameroon is also here for four days now they have received good security during their stay and we intend to do more for Ghana and come on Saturday the grounds will be conducive for the Ghana fans that will wish to come to support their team."

Ghana lead the standings with three points after matchday one, same number of points as Sierra Leone but with a better goal difference following their 5-0 resounding victory over Ethiopia.
