The Inter Milan midfielder dynamo was spotted strapping his knee with ice to treat the problem which has raised concerns from fans of the Black Stars.
Asamoah looks to have sustained the knock during the Black Stars' training on Wednesday morning at the Ethiopian Youth Academy in Addis Ababa.
However, the gaffer did not rule out the midfielder’s involvement in the must-win clash on Saturday.
“He had a small injury. Just that I don’t want to put a problem for him to make it worse. It is important we treat it and then he trains slowly,” Kwesi Appiah said.
