Egypt’s Mohammed Salah was announced as one of ten nominees for FIFA the Puskas Award for his sensational opener at Anfield last season in the Merseyside derby against Everton.
The award is given to one player for scoring the best goal of the year from anywhere in the world and the winner will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards Show on September 14 in London.
The winner of the award will be decided by an online poll on Fifa's official website.
Mohamed Salah will be competing with nine other nominees including legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in addition to Welsh Gareth Bale, Russia’s Denis Cheryshev, Greek midfielder Lazaros Christodoulopoulos, Giorgian De Arrascaeta, Australia’s Riley McGree, French defender Benjamin Pavard and Portugal’s Ricardo Quaresma.
Salah scored the nominated goal in his first appearance in a Merseyside derby as he sent a curled ball from a superb angle.
The Egyptian is also is in the final list of players nominated for FIFA’s The Best Award alongside Ronaldo and Luka Modric.
